Description
Stage6 BigRacing 86cc / 88cc aluminum cylinder Minarelli AM6
Stage6 has dedicated itself to the development of high-performance tuning parts and is constantly taking on new challenges, which is why they are now also launching cylinders for 50cc motorcycles. For Minarelli AM6: Cylinder Stage6 BigRacing 88cc.
Design Stage6 Big Racing
The Stage6 development team has developed an innovative cylinder designed for simplicity, performance and reliability.
In terms of looks, the BigRacing is rather inconspicuous, but appearances are deceptive. The cylinder is an original "Big Bore" cylinder, i.e. it is not based on a standard cylinder that has simply been opened up on, but has been designed as a genuine Big Bore kit with matching transfer ports and a large exhaust that supports the extra power of the cylinder.
Advantages of Stage6 Big Racing Kits:
The BigRacing cylinders' strong points are simple installation, top performance and high reliability.
Simple installation: Installation is extremely easy and, above all, no milling work needs to be carried out on the engine block. The squish clearance is preset to a value optimized for the respective engine type.
Top performance: In terms of performance, the BigRacing impresses across the board: on our P4 test bench, we measured a full 27 hp and 13.6 Nm with the 88cc Big Racing; a standard setup was used (24mm carburetor, original ignition, racing exhaust, etc.)
High reliability: The cylinder's timing is relatively low, the cooling volume is quite large and the piston is of extremely high quality (Vertex) - all factors that make the cylinder very reliable and robust, provided that the setup and settings are correct.
Big racing setup
To get the most out of the 86 - 88 AM6 Alu Stage6 kit and achieve the highest performance, we recommend combining it with at least the following components:
- A PWK carburetor
- A reed valve such as the Vforce3 reed valve from Stage6
- A racing exhaust such as the Stage6 R/T 80 - 90 low mount exhaust
- A reinforced clutch
- An internal rotor ignition such as the MVT Digital Direct
Big Racing: 86 cc or 88 cc
Big Racing 86
You can use the cylinder kit in combination with a crankshaft with 44mm stroke / 85mm connecting rod, which gives you a displacement of 86cc.
Big Racing 88
To achieve a displacement of 88cc, it must be used in combination with a crankshaft with 45mm stroke / 90mm connecting rod, together with the 5 mm base gasket included in the kit.
- It is essential for installation with 90mm connecting rod, longer stud bolts M7x118mm to be used.
- Depending on the year of manufacture of your vehicle, it may be necessary to open up the crankcase.
The cylinder kit includes:
- 86cc / 88cc cylinder, 50mm bore, aluminum, 44mm stroke + 85mm connecting rod / 45mm stroke + 90mm connecting rod, with 5 transfer ports and bridged exhaust (32mm)
- Vertex 1-ring piston, 50mm diameter
- High-compression cylinder head, one-piece, aluminum
- Gasket set (base and head gaskets)
- 5mm cylinder base spacer for mounting a crankshaft with 45mm stroke / 90mm connecting rod
- WITHOUT ROAD APPROVAL
Stage6 BigRacing cylinder
The Big Racing cylinders are extremely powerful cylinders for 50cc supermotos. Although they are very powerful high-end cylinders, they offer a good balance of performance and reliability for intensive, regular, even daily use.
The aluminium cylinders have a displacement of 77 to 88 cc (with the corresponding crankshaft ) and were mainly developed for 50cc motorcycles with Derbi and AM6 engine, e.g. Rieju MRT, Beta RR or Sherco.
In combination with a suitable exhaust, a complete intake system and a suitable gearbox, the BigRacing can achieve maximum power with maximum torque and increased top speed.
The Stage6 R/T series delivers even more power, with uncompromising performance for use on the race track.
technical data :
- Aluminium cylinder
- 1-ring piston
- Original big bore design (not simply opened up)
- Transfer ports and compression designed for maximum reliability
- 77cc displacement for crankshaft with original stroke
- 86cc or 88cc cylinder for long stroke crankshaft
- One-piece cylinder head
- Discreet design with 49ccm lettering
- Also available as a kit with exhaust or crankshaft
- All spare parts available separately (pistons, gaskets)
How to Install a cylinder on a scooter, motorcycle or moped
The cylinder or cylinder kit is the heart of the engine on scooters, motorcycles and mopeds. It consists of a cylinder, a piston with piston ring(s), a cylinder head and gaskets needed for installation.
The service life of a cylinder depends on whether it has been fitted correctly.

Tuning Level: High End racing
We categorize our products into different performance levels Original, Sport, Racing and High End , so that our customers can choose the right parts for their setup. It is really important to combine parts that belong to the same tuning level, this is especially true for cylinders, crankshafts and exhausts.
High End Racing products are exclusively designed for racing and should only be handled by tuning pros with the appropriate technical know-how. High-end racing parts often require modifications or machining of certain elements to accommodate the often larger components (larger crank webs, larger intake, etc.). Whether you stick with 50cc or increase the displacement, high-end racing parts offer much higher performance than the original parts and are the most powerful tuning parts.
Note: To ensure the reliability of the engine, it is important that the parts are compatible and that you do regular maintenance on your two-wheeler.
Aluminium cylinders
Aluminium cylinders are more powerful than cast iron cylinders, but require more regular maintenance and must be combined with different components such as a reinforced crankshaft and a larger carburetor.
How to run in an aluminium cylinder?
Aluminium cylinders should be run in for about 200 kilometers , and you should use a fully synthetic engine oil.
Note: To ensure optimum performance and reliability, it is advisable to measure the squish clearance. Just have a look at our tutorial How to adjust squish clearance.
