Yamaha DT 50 1996-2002
The Yamaha DT 50cc (also known as the DTR 50 or DT 50R ) was completely revised in 1996. The cantilever suspension was abolished and replaced by a swingarm, which is also used in a similar form on Yamaha motocross bikes. The design was inspired by the famous Yamaha XT 600 and the engine is the widely used Minarelli AM6, which can still be found on many models today.
There are two versions, Enduro and Supermoto, both of which are equipped with a classic fork with relatively long suspension travel for safe off-road riding. The Supermotard version is rarer and has a disc brake instead of a drum brake.
Like all 50cc mopeds, the DT is rather limited in terms of performance. However, the performance can be significantly increased with numerous aftermarket tuning parts.
