Cylinder Stage6 R/T 70 AM6
Description
Stage6 R/T 70cc High End Racing Cylinder for AM6
The well-known 70cc high-end racing cylinder from Stage6 R/T has broken records, secured countless victories and won many prizes. As of today, the 70cc powerhouse from the Stage6 R/T Racing tuning experts is finally also available for Minarelli AM6 engines.
The kit consists of:
- Aluminum cylinder with 47,6mm bore, with 6 transfer ports and bridged exhaust
- High quality piston (12mm piston pin) with high performance piston ring
- High-compression cylinder head, modular, removable combustion chamber (orange anodized)
- R/T spacer / adapter plate with ground-breaking mounting design
- CNC machined exhaust adapter
Innovative mounting
The truly groundbreaking feature of this cylinder kit is that it is the new installation design with cylinder spacer / adapter plate. The CNC-milled adapter plate bolts to the crankcase, the cylinder is mounted via external bolts so that there are no bolts cutting through the cylinder. This new design opens up all kinds of options for tuners to modify and optimize their engine (porting) without being subject to the usual restrictions. A Viton O-ring seal between adapter plate and cylinder makes future sealing processes unnecessary when for instance changing pistons.
High-end racing performance
In terms of performance, this cylinder is a top-of-the-line racing kit - 24 hp is doable if combined with the right tuning components. Thermals are excellent - the combustion chamber insert is bolted to the cylinder at five points, each bolt is cooled by its own cooling pocket. The critical areas at the stud bolts are thus stabilized and the risk of piston seizure is minimized.
assembly instructions
The cylinder can be mounted plug & play on all engine cases that were originally equipped with an aluminium cylinder kit. On newer AM6 engines with cast iron cylinders, you'll have to slighty machine the case to make room for the cylinder base.
Here are the relevant dimensions of the cylinder base:
- Diameter cylinder skirt: 56.7mm
- Length cylinder skirt: 16mm
You will find detailed instructions with exact specifications in the installation manual.
The right setup
Matching Exhaust
The 70cc cylinder with the supplied exhaust flange allows the installation of all AM6 exhaust systems with 32mm flange diameter available on the market. The flange is equipped with 2 O-rings to ensure 100% sealing, with one O-ring on the cylinder side and one O-ring on the inside towards the exhaust. For exhausts with 28mm diameter you have to use an exhaust reducer sleeve 32mm to 28mm.
For maximum power development, we currently recommend the following Stage6 exhausts:
other Matching components
The Stage6 R/T cylinder is used with standard AM6 stroke (39mm) and connecting rod (85mm). We recommend the use of a high performance racing crankshaft for Minarelli AM6.

How to Install a cylinder on a scooter, motorcycle or moped
The cylinder or cylinder kit is the heart of the engine on scooters, motorcycles and mopeds. It consists of a cylinder, a piston with piston ring(s), a cylinder head and gaskets needed for installation.
The service life of a cylinder depends on whether it has been fitted correctly.

Tuning Level: High End racing
We categorize our products into different performance levels Original, Sport, Racing and High End , so that our customers can choose the right parts for their setup. It is really important to combine parts that belong to the same tuning level, this is especially true for cylinders, crankshafts and exhausts.
High End Racing products are exclusively designed for racing and should only be handled by tuning pros with the appropriate technical know-how. High-end racing parts often require modifications or machining of certain elements to accommodate the often larger components (larger crank webs, larger intake, etc.). Whether you stick with 50cc or increase the displacement, high-end racing parts offer much higher performance than the original parts and are the most powerful tuning parts.
Note: To ensure the reliability of the engine, it is important that the parts are compatible and that you do regular maintenance on your two-wheeler.
Aluminium cylinders
Aluminium cylinders are more powerful than cast iron cylinders, but require more regular maintenance and must be combined with different components such as a reinforced crankshaft and a larger carburetor.
How to run in an aluminium cylinder?
Aluminium cylinders should be run in for about 200 kilometers , and you should use a fully synthetic engine oil.
Note: To ensure optimum performance and reliability, it is advisable to measure the squish clearance. Just have a look at our tutorial How to adjust squish clearance.
