Programmable ignition Yamaha Aerox Stage6 R/T MK2
Description
pragrammable Inner rotor ignition for Yamaha and Malaguti scooters
The PVL internal rotor ignition from Stage6 R/T got an upgrade! The new MK 2 internal rotor ignition from Stage6 R/T for 50cc scooters with Minarelli engine now comes with a programmable CDI to give you the ability to adjust the ignition curve to match your engine setup and preferences. The programming software and interface are included.
Optional CDI ignition curve programming
If you don't want to (or can't) program the CDI - no problem! The included CDI is already preprogrammed with the latest MK2 ignition curves. This means that the ignition is plug & play without having to use the programming feature if you don't want to.
- Option 1: Do not connect green wire to ground: Less pre-ignition → track race
- Option 2: Connect green wire to ground: More pre-ignition → drag race
- Option 3: Program ignition curve yourself with the included Stage6 R/T programming software and interface.
And if you want even more power, you can also add a flywheel to the ignition rotor. This modification increases the inertia at high rpm.
Stage6 - PVL cooperation for maximum performance
As with the previous model, PVL provides the proven hardware, and Stage6 contributes the software, i.e. the two ignition curves, based on the experience of thousands of test bench runs and years on race tracks.
Must-have for racing scooters and tuning projects, so if it's all about getting maximum performance out of your 50cc scooter.
Technical features
Digital internal rotor ignition
Programmed advance for effective ignition timing up to 20,000 rpm
Two preset ignition curves
Control unit:
- Digital, controller-controlled ignition
- Small, lightweight housing due to SMD technology
High-voltage coil:
- Ignition start already at less than 400 rpm
- Highly effective capacitive discharge (CDI)
- Constant discharge voltage
Stator-rotor unit:
- Lightweight internal rotor
- Low rotational moment of inertia
- Overmolded generator winding on stator
Notes and recommendations on the STage6 R/T ignition:
- The Stage6 R/T MK2 is a race ignition, therefore there is no supply for light / water pump. A battery is needed to power the electrics.
Cannot be used in conjunction with Malossi MHR Team crankshafts.
- We recommend using a racing spark plug and ignition breaker.
- Absolutely make sure that there is a ground wire between engine case and chassis!
Inner Rotor Ignition
An internal rotor ignition is a racing ignition designed to increase performance. Inner rotor ignitions are designed for motorsports and competition, in rare cases they also provide power for vehicle lighting. (e.g. the MVT ignition).
Advantages of an internal rotor ignition
Inner rotor ignitions are the ultimate choice for the race track, they are however not really suitable for street use.
The compact and lightweight internal rotor puts less weight on the crankshaft and allows for quick revving, very high engine speeds and an enormous power increase at high rpm.
Another advantage is that this type of ignition is less susceptible to moisture than standard ignitions.
Tip: You may want to consider a tuning ignition cover with additional holes / cutouts to improve ventilation.
Disadvantages of an internal rotor ignition
RPMs increase faster due to the lower mass, this will affect torque at low RPMs, though. Therefore, internal rotor ignitions are only worthwhile for racing, because on the racetrack you'll constantly stay at high engine speeds.
Installing and adjusting an internal rotor ignition
Installing an internal rotor ignition requires technical knowledge and careful adjustments to keep the engine running optimally and really optimize performance. We recommend our tutorial to learn how to install and adjust an internal rotor ignition.
