Description
MVT Premium Minarelli horizontal after 2003
The MVT Premium internal rotor ignition with light for Minarelli 50cc scooters such as Yamaha Aerox / Neos / Slider / BWs or MBK Nitro / Ovetto / Stunt / Booster (after 2003) is a good alternative if you want to replace the original ignition with a more powerful one while retaining the 12V power supply for the vehicle lighting.
Advantages of MVT Premium ignition
- Simple adjustment (without micrometer; the ignition is set to 0 before TDC by aligning the two markings exactly to TDC)
- For everyday road use
- With 12V power supply
- Optional restriction to 45km/h (see instructions)
- Stronger RPM increase thanks to the small rotor
For even more power you can use an MVT Eprom Box to convert from analog to digital ignition system. Recommended for high-end racing setups.
Note: The ignition is not compatible with all 50cc scooters with Minarelli engine. Suitable models are listed below. A (charged) battery is essential for the operation of this ignition.
ATTENTION: The MVT Premium ignitions were changed in 2023, the coil and the CDI are now a single component. Therefore, there is no longer a blue wire for RPM restriction; the currently existing wiring instructions will be temporarily incorrect.
MVT Premium
The MVT Premium ignition is the mid-range model among the MVT ignitions - a very powerful internal rotor ignition that ensures improved RPM increase.
The biggest difference to the Digital Direct ignition is the CDI. With the Premium, the ignition timing is fixed, with the DD series it is variable. If you want to maximize the engine's power range, you should therefore opt for the Digital Direct internal rotor ignition.
Advantages of MVT Premium Ignition
- Internal rotor ignition at an unbeatable price
- With light
- Simple adjustments
- More direct revving up
- Optional derestriction to 45 km/h
Inner Rotor Ignition
An internal rotor ignition is a racing ignition designed to increase performance. Inner rotor ignitions are designed for motorsports and competition, in rare cases they also provide power for vehicle lighting. (e.g. the MVT ignition).
Advantages of an internal rotor ignition
Inner rotor ignitions are the ultimate choice for the race track, they are however not really suitable for street use.
The compact and lightweight internal rotor puts less weight on the crankshaft and allows for quick revving, very high engine speeds and an enormous power increase at high rpm.
Another advantage is that this type of ignition is less susceptible to moisture than standard ignitions.
Tip: You may want to consider a tuning ignition cover with additional holes / cutouts to improve ventilation.
Disadvantages of an internal rotor ignition
RPMs increase faster due to the lower mass, this will affect torque at low RPMs, though. Therefore, internal rotor ignitions are only worthwhile for racing, because on the racetrack you'll constantly stay at high engine speeds.
Installing and adjusting an internal rotor ignition
Installing an internal rotor ignition requires technical knowledge and careful adjustments to keep the engine running optimally and really optimize performance. We recommend our tutorial to learn how to install and adjust an internal rotor ignition.
