Gilera Stalker - General information
The Gilera Stalker 50 AC is a popular 50cc scooter with a sporty design and high reliability. The Stalker was developed as a successor of the Typhoon. It not only looks a lot like the Typhoon, but also features a more or less identical frame and technology. However, unlike the TPH / Typhoon, which was always marketed as an off-road vehicle, the Stalker was designed for road use only. Nevertheless, the design has many parallels to motocross motorcycles of its time. The most striking of these is probably the CVT cover, whose cast structure imitates a skeletal swingarm. In general, it can be seen as a sporty all-rounder that is probably best categorized as a solid street scooter.
Gilera Stalker 50 - Engine
The scooter is equipped with a long air-cooled 2-stroke Piaggio engine. Rather unique is the use of a Weber 12OM carburetor, which is mainly used in vehicles for the Italian market. This is rather uncommon for scooter engines. However, German models were almost exclusively equipped with the DellOrto PHVA12DD.
Gilera 50 Stalker - Chassis
Compared to the TPH, it features some significant improvements. It has a fully hydraulic disc brake (Ø 190 mm) on the front wheel and a drum brake (Ø 175 mm) on the rear wheel. The front suspension consists of an upside-down fork and the rear suspension consists of an adjustable mono shock. The tire size is 120/90-10 at the front and 130/90-10 at the rear.
