Kawasaki KX 250 F - History
With the emergence of 4-stroke motocross machines in the late 1990s, spearheaded by Yamaha and soon followed by Honda, all manufacturers shifted their focus on producing powerful and competitive four-stroke motocross motorcycles.
In 2004, Kawasaki (in collaboration with Suzuki) launched their first 4-stroke motocross bike, the KX250F. The motorbike quickly made its mark in various championships, particularly in AMA Supercross and Motocross, where the Pro Circuit Team regularly achieved podium finishes. The introduction of an aluminum frame in 2006 marked a substantial weight reduction from its predecessor, and it provided enhanced suspension due to the newly introduced Showa shocks. A new frame was introduced in 2009, and it was not until 2011 that the engine was fitted with electronic fuel injection. In 2013, the KXF was given a facelift and a completely new chassis with Kayaba suspension and a significantly lighter SFF fork. A thorough chassis overhaul happened in 2017, making it slimmer and lighter. In 2021, Kawasaki adopted the excellent chassis of their 450 series and outfitted the KXF with Kayaba SSS suspension, an electric starter and a hydraulic clutch.
The Kawasaki 250 KXF is a powerful motocross motorcycle that is suitable for both competition and leisure riding. It is not road-legal, but is designed for use on race tracks / motocross trails and off-road.
