Description
Motip Zinc Spray for galvanised parts and surfaces that have been damaged by welding, sanding, drilling, transport etc. and now need to be repaired or the colour tone adjusted
Also suitable as corrosion protection for galvanised surfaces and bare ferrous metals. Can also be used for aluminium (to a limited extent).
Spray Paints
Although our spray paints are mostly universal paints that can be used on all surfaces, there are also special paints for rims, for parts exposed to extreme heat, rust protection paints, etc. In all cases, the surface must be properly prepared before applying the spray paint.
Painting with spray Paint
Preparation
- Before the new paint is applied, you must sand the surface! The surface cannot be smooth and shiny, but has to be relatively rough, so that the paint adheres well.
- Also make sure that the surface is degreased. Use a strong grease-dissolving product like brake cleaner.
- Cover the areas you don't want to paint with masking tape; it's best to mask generously.
- To make the paint look as specified and even, you should also apply a coat of primer. Make sure that the primer matches the material: For plastic parts, use a special plastic primer.
- Apply the primer in a dry and dust-free place.
Painting
- Read the instructions on the spray can carefully. You will usually find useful information, such as the distance from which to spray, the recommended temperature range, etc....
- It is best to spray in a dry, dust-free and ventilated place.
- Apply several coats to get an intense and even color. Tip: Apply thin coats and be sure to follow the drying times to avoid running!
Finishing
For a perfect finish, you can also apply a layer of clear coat, gloss or matte depending on the look you prefer.
Again, make sure you choose the right type of paint: For example, if you used acrylic paint, you'll need an acrylic clear coat. For components that are exposed to high temperatures, you will need heat-resistant high-temperature paint.
Paint care
To ensure that your paint job stays clean and shiny, you should store your vehicle in the shade in the summer and dry in the winter.
Storing it in a garage will protect the paint from aggressive UV rays and the elements. Alternatively, you can also use a bike cover or mobile garage.
Always clean your scooter, moped or motorcycle with suitable cleaning agents and soft, clean sponges, brushes and cloths. You can also use paint protection to keep the fairing clean and shiny.
If a simple cleaning is no longer enough to bring the surfaces back to a high gloss, you can use paint polish to refresh the colours.
