Packing material Stage6
Stage6 Silencer Wool Super Silent (150g) for extra strong noise absorption, to be stuffed into the silencer.
Silencer wool is put into the silencer to absorb the noise generated by the exhaust. As it loses its sound-absorbing properties over time, it has to be replaced with new packing material as soon as you notice that your exhaust is getting louder.
Stage6 high-quality heat-resistant Super Silent packing wool can be used in most silencers on the market. The extra-dense wool provides extra strong noise absorption and is extremely heat-resistant. The wool does not come as a mat, but is loose, so you can take exactly as much as you need. This makes packing the silencer much easier.
Tips for packing a muffler
- packing not dense enough: the exhaust sounds quiet at first, but after a short time the packing material shifts and an empty spaces are is formed; the silencer becomes loud again and the packing material wears out very quickly.
- packing too dense: longer service life of the wool, but insufficient noise reduction; the exhaust may even be louder than without the wool.
Don't pack the wool too tight. When the muffler is full, you should still be able to push the material 2 - 3 cm in, there should be enough "play" inside the silencer. Replace the end cap; gaps between cap and silencer body can additionally be sealed using heat-resistant silicone.
150g, loose (enough for one tuning silencer)
Silencer packing is packed into the muffler to reduce noise emissions. There are basically two types of packing material: rock wool and glass wool. Their insulating properties play an essential role in keeping the noise level at the legally required level to avoid fines.
