The Malossi Primary Transmission 23/64 Vespa PX / Cosa 125cc, gearbox with 23/64 teeth primary drive gears. You should change gear ratio whenever you upgrade / tune your engine by installing a tuning cylinder or racing exhaust to exploit the increase in power, especially the power generated at high rpm. Taller gears reduce the overall gear ratio of your transmission and will result in improved acceleration, a higher gear ratio increases top end speed.
The gears have straight teeth to minimize friction and resulting power losses; in addition, straight gears minimize axial load so the stress on bearings and shaft is greatly reduced.

The transmission of scooters and some mopeds is located in a case behind the clutch and torque driver and has the function of reducing rpm and ultimately driving the wheel axle.
The transmission of a scooter has a direct influence on top speed. If the engine develops enough power and torque at low rpm, you can choose a longer gear ratio to achieve a higher top speed without any noticeable loss in acceleration.
Please note: if you don't have a press, better choose pre-assembled gears!
