Description
Internal rotor ignition Digital Direct with light
MVT Digital Direct 25 internal rotor ignition with light coil for Mobylette MBK G1 - G2 - G3 engines.
Why pick the MVT Digital Direct?
The MVT Digital Direct (DD) is a digital internal rotor ignition. The ignition timing varies depending on engine speed to achieve maximum power. Ignition timing controlled by a CDI unit (included).
The MVT DD is mainly intended for racing and high-end racing engines with 70 cc and higher displacement.
A special feature of the MVT DD is the 12 Volt – 55 Watt connection for light (or electric water pump). You can replace your original ignition with this performance enhancing internal rotor ignition and still power all the on-board electronics / vehicle lighting. The lightweight inner rotor makes the engine much more agile and produces more power over a wider rpm range.
How to set up a MVT DD ignition?
- First remove the original ignition and install the MVT Digital Direct ignition correctly. Do not tighten screws on the stator and rotor until the ignition is set up and adjusted properly.
- It is best to use a micrometer / ignition dial gauge and follow the guidelines: 0.4 mm before OMT for original stroke and 0.35 mm for long stroke.
- Then connect the ignition to the wiring harness (see instructions).
For even more power, we recommend using an MVT Eprom module with pre-programmed ignition curves.
We also recommend the use of a racing spark plug and a larger carburetor (min. 17.5 mm).
Required tools
- Micrometer for adjusting ignition timing.
Suitable for:
MBK / Motobécane G1, G2 and G3 with 20mm journals
MVT Digital Direct
The MVT Digital Direct ignition is the brand's top model, with extreme performance, agile engine and optimum response at all engine speeds thanks to a lightweight internal rotor and CDI with variable ignition timing. Bonus: the ignition has a 12V output for lights / on-board electronics!
The DD internal rotor ignition has a digital CDI with variable ignition timing adjustment, i.e. the ignition timing adapts to the engine speed and is therefore ideally suited for tuned engines. In this way, you always get the best ratio between torque and maximum power, regardless of RPM.
Advantages of MVT Digital Direct
- Digital internal rotor ignition
- With light
- Simple adjustment
- CDI with variable ignition timing = maximum power at all RPMs
Inner Rotor Ignition
An internal rotor ignition is a racing ignition designed to increase performance. Inner rotor ignitions are designed for motorsports and competition, in rare cases they also provide power for vehicle lighting. (e.g. the MVT ignition).
Advantages of an internal rotor ignition
Inner rotor ignitions are the ultimate choice for the race track, they are however not really suitable for street use.
The compact and lightweight internal rotor puts less weight on the crankshaft and allows for quick revving, very high engine speeds and an enormous power increase at high rpm.
Another advantage is that this type of ignition is less susceptible to moisture than standard ignitions.
Tip: You may want to consider a tuning ignition cover with additional holes / cutouts to improve ventilation.
Disadvantages of an internal rotor ignition
RPMs increase faster due to the lower mass, this will affect torque at low RPMs, though. Therefore, internal rotor ignitions are only worthwhile for racing, because on the racetrack you'll constantly stay at high engine speeds.
Installing and adjusting an internal rotor ignition
Installing an internal rotor ignition requires technical knowledge and careful adjustments to keep the engine running optimally and really optimize performance. We recommend our tutorial to learn how to install and adjust an internal rotor ignition.
