Inner Rotor Ignition Peugeot 103 Stage6 R/T MK2 by PVL
Description
Internal rotor ignition for Peugeot mopeds
Stage6 R/T MK2 internal rotor ignition for Peugeot 103 SPX, RCX, SP, Vogue...etc. mopeds. Mopeds. The ignition comes with a programmable CDI to give you the possibility to adjust the ignition curve to match your engine setup and preferences.
Stage6 - PVL cooperation for maximum performance
As with the previous model, PVL provides the proven hardware, and Stage6 contributes the software, i.e. the two ignition curves, based on the experience of thousands of test bench runs and years on race tracks. Stage6 also designed the ignition base plate, which is made of CNC aluminium and then anodized orange.
A must-have for racing scooters and tuning projects, so if it's all about getting maximum performance from the Stage6 racing cylinder for Peugeot 103.
- 1x internal ignition rotor
- 1x ignition stator
- 1x programmable CDI with variable ignition timing
- 1x ignition coil with approx. 40 cm long spark plug cable
- 1x ground wire
- 1x screw set
Optional CDI ignition curve programming
If you don't want to (or can't) program the CDI - no problem! The included CDI is already preprogrammed with the latest MK2 ignition curves. This means that the ignition is plug & play without having to use the programming feature if you don't want to.
- Option 1: Simply install the CDI and drive with the preset base curve.
- Option 2: Connect the green cable to ground: More pre-ignition -> racing curve.
- Option 3: Program the ignition curve yourself. You will need the special Stage6 R/T programming software to program the CDI.
Notes and recommendations for the STage6 R/T ignition :
- The ignition rotor does not contain a holder for the woodruff key and is intended for crankshafts with a small cone (electronic ignition).
- The Stage6 R/T MK2 is a race ignition, therefore there is no supply for light / water pump. A battery is needed to power the electrics.
- We recommend using a racing spark plug and an ignition breaker to switch off the ignition.
- It is important that there is a ground wire between engine case and chassis.
- All guidelines for the installation and adjustment of the internal rotor ignition can be found in the manual.
Inner Rotor Ignition
An internal rotor ignition is a racing ignition designed to increase performance. Inner rotor ignitions are designed for motorsports and competition, in rare cases they also provide power for vehicle lighting. (e.g. the MVT ignition).
Advantages of an internal rotor ignition
Inner rotor ignitions are the ultimate choice for the race track, they are however not really suitable for street use.
The compact and lightweight internal rotor puts less weight on the crankshaft and allows for quick revving, very high engine speeds and an enormous power increase at high rpm.
Another advantage is that this type of ignition is less susceptible to moisture than standard ignitions.
Tip: You may want to consider a tuning ignition cover with additional holes / cutouts to improve ventilation.
Disadvantages of an internal rotor ignition
RPMs increase faster due to the lower mass, this will affect torque at low RPMs, though. Therefore, internal rotor ignitions are only worthwhile for racing, because on the racetrack you'll constantly stay at high engine speeds.
Installing and adjusting an internal rotor ignition
Installing an internal rotor ignition requires technical knowledge and careful adjustments to keep the engine running optimally and really optimize performance. We recommend our tutorial to learn how to install and adjust an internal rotor ignition.
