Clutch cable Moose Racing Kawasaki KX 125Clutch cable for motorcycles, Vintage scooters and mopeds
The clutch cable is a Bowden cable; it consists of a flexible inner cable made of steel wire in a protective outer sleeve. One end of the cable is attached to the clutch lever on the handlebar, the other end is connected to the clutch slave (hydraulic system) or to the clutch rod (mechanical system).
How does the clutch cable work:
The clutch cable transmits the movement of the clutch lever to the clutch mechanism of the motorcycle. This causes the clutch to engage and disengage, which facilitates shifting gears without transmitting power to the transmission.
How to change the clutch cable?
To replace a broken clutch cable, simply follow the steps below, you will only need a few tools:
- Completely loosen the cable tensioner on the clutch assy and pull the clutch cable off the lever.
- Remove any fairings or other parts blocking access to the clutch cable.
- Pull the cable end off the clutch mechanism located near the gearbox.
- Install the new clutch cable by following the same steps in reverse order.
- Adjust the tension of the new cable using the cable tensioner. Make sure that the tension is correct - not too tight and not too loose.
