Brake Disc front floating 250mm Stage6 R/T MK2 universal scooter
Description
RAcing BrAke Disc Floating from Stage6 universal
Stage6 is always looking for ways to optimise products for road and race use, and since brakes are pretty important they improved their brake discs as well.
When developing the Stage6 R/T Floating Brake Disc front 250mm MKII, the focus was on highest reliability and maximum braking power. The result is a high-end brake disc suitable for racing use, but that can of course also be used for everyday road use.
The brake disc is 100% made in Italy and has been tested under real conditions on the race track. It is completely made of high-quality martensitic steel. This type of steel has a high carbon and chromium content, the main advantage is its superior toughness and hardness, which guarantees an extended service life.
The heat treatment of the braking surface is the same as that used on superbikes, so when competing in circuit races pilots can brake consistently and powerfully throughout the entire race.
The competitive advantage of the Stage6 floater design is that the floaters have 30% more contact or working surface compared to conventional floaters. The braking force is thus distributed about 30% more evenly than with normal floating discs, resulting in better brake response. Due to the increased contact area, floaters and brake discs are more durable and resistant to boot.
The brake disc is equipped with anodized orange floaters made of 7075 T6 aluminium, whose strength is comparable to steel but weighs much less.
The advantages of the floating Stage6 MKII brake disc:
- increased and constant braking power even under extreme conditions
- excellent heat distribution and limited expansion and distortion at high temperatures
- better handling and more grip when braking in corners
Here is our recommendation for the brake pads;you should choose the pads according to their intended use:
- Original brake caliper
Street : S6-1021010
Racing : S6-1025010/R
- Original brake caliper
- Stage6 4-piston brake caliper
Street : S6-ET1401BB
Racing : S6-ET1403BB
- Stage6 4-piston brake caliper
Technical data:
- with 3 flat head titanium screws M8 for brake disc with 10 mm holes
- disc diameter 250 mm
- 3 holes - diameter 10.5 mm
- inner ring diameter 58.5 mm
- screw spacing 80mm
The disc fits many popular scooter models such as Yamaha Aerox, BW`s, Slider, Jog, Neo`s / MBK Nitro, Booster, Stunt, Mach G, Ovetto / Aprilia SR50 / SR125, Rally, Gulliver / Benelli 491, K2, Naked, Velvet 125 / Beta Ark, Eikon / Malaguti F12, F15, Crosser / Peugeot Buxy, Speedake, Squab, Trekker, TKR / Piaggio Typhoon, TPH, NRG as well as many other scooters (including Chinese scooters) with appropriate dimensions. The supplied high-quality titanium collar bolts allow mounting on rims with M8 bolt diameter (eg F12 / Jog). For rims with M10 screws (eg Aerox), you can use the original screws.
NOTE: The disc fits many models, but you should always check the dimensions before buying (cp. picture). Since it is an oversize disc, you must also use an adapter (possibly DIY).
For owners of Aerox, Jog and Runner we recommend Stage6 brake disc 250mm S6-1216609, with the matching adapter included.
Motorcycle and scooter brake disk
The brake disc on the front wheel and / or rear wheel play an essential role in the braking system of motorcycles and scooters.
Brake rotors are firmly attached to the wheel or wheel hub with brake bolts. They work in conjunction with the brake pads, which are pressed onto the brake discs via the brake caliper. This pressure creates the friction that is important for braking, which allows the vehicle to slow down and come to a stop.
When to change the brake rotor?
Brake pads wear out faster than brake discs and need to be replaced regularly. Brake discs, on the other hand, can last between 20,000 and 40,000 kilometers, depending on driving conditions. It is recommended that you monitor brake pad wear and inspect brake rotors for signs of excessive wear or deformation. If you see any sign of damage, the brake disc should be replaced.
No matter if standard, wave or floating - when you install a new brake disc on your scooter or motorcycle, you should also replace the brake pads at the same time. You should securely fasten front or rear brake disc with threadlocker.
