Foam air filters of motorcycles are usually greased with air filter oil.
This oil is greasy and also slightly sticky so that the filter can filter as much sand and dust as possible to prevent particles from penetrating deep into the filter.
In addition, motocross and enduro bikes also apply grease between the airbox and air filter to ensure efficient sealing.
How do you clean an air filter?
So to clean an oiled filter, you need a strong grease-dissolving cleaner, but one that doesn't attack the air filter's glued seams.
